Frito Taco Pie With A Crescent Dough Crust

MY FAVORITE FRITO PIE TOPPINGS

My favorite topping has to be avocado;

I like to mash it and add olive oil, salt, lime juice, and chopped spring onions, also if I have some cilantro for freshness. Tomatoes and lettuce taste wonderful with some salsa on top.

HOW TO MAKE FRITO PIE?

To make Frito Taco Pie you have to:

First, prepare 1 pound of ground beef with taco seasoning according to the package directions, meanwhile, prepare all of your toppings. Then, butter the pie dish so the Crescent rolls won’t stick to it.

Place all of your crescent roll triangles in a pie dish with the tips in the center and the opposite side on the outer edge of the dish.

Use your fingers to mold the triangles together into a pie crust.

 Now, place a couple of handfuls of corn chips (about 1 1/2 cups) on top of the crust. Following, layer on your seasoned ground beef on top of the Fritos

Spread on a layer of sour cream with a spoon, and then top with olives (optional). Add in a few jalapeños if you like spice in this layer.

Top with 1 or more cups of shredded cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Wait about 10 minutes before slicing and serving, otherwise, it will fall apart.

Top with more Fritos and fresh veggies (lettuce, tomato, avocado, salsa, etc.)

TIPS
1. The best tip I can give you to make Frito Taco Pie is to prepare it just before eating and make sure you have all your toppings ready once it comes from the oven.
2. It might collapse if it is too hot so is better to wait for a few minutes, the Crescent rolls are a bit flaky but it’s just the best base for this pie because the buttery flavor combined with the ground beef is just divine!
3. You can add beans to the ground beef and make it even more nutritious! Beans are full of iron and great minerals, great for the kids.

WHAT GOES WITH FRITO PIE?

A great combination of fresh vegetables and salad will be perfect to go with Frito Taco Pie; Corn chips, beans, and guacamole are also great to go with it.

There are no limits when it comes to Mexican food, there are so many wonderful flavors, it all depends on your personal taste.
